Biography

John Deberry was born Feb. 5, 1951 and represents House District 90.  He is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University and the University of Memphis.  He and his wife Georgia have two children, Chevida and Victoria.

Representative Deberry is the minister at Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee.  He is also a public relations executive specializing in marketing and advertising.  He is a member of several boards including Freed-Hardeman University Board of Trustees, Juvenile Court Advisory Council, DMC Task Force and the Commission on Children and Youth.

Representative Deberry has been a member of the 99th through 105th General Assemblies.  He is Chairman of the House Children and Family Affairs Committee and member of the House Health and Human Resources Committee, Mental Health Subcommittee, House Commerce Committee, Professional Occupations Subcommittee and Industrial Impact Subcommittee.  He also serves on the Select Committee on Children and Youth and the Juvenile Records Task Force.
