Baptist; Graduated Harriman City School System, 1980; Union Lodge 38, Kingston; Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies; Knoxville Kerbela Shrine Temple; Numerous awards during tenure in Legislature including Jaycees Outstanding Young Tennessean Award, Roane County Citizen of the Year, Modern Woodmen of American Award for conscientious and dedicated community service, Michael Dunn Award for outstanding leadership, and Outstanding Citizen for support of the 4-H Clubs; 2004 Realtors Legislator of the Year; Majority Whip, 98th and 104th General Assemblies; Standing Committee Service: Secretary of Commerce, 103rd General Assembly; Secretary of Health, 102nd General Assembly; Secretary of Agriculture, 100th and 101st General Assemblies. Member of the 97th, 98th, and 100th through 105th General Assemblies.
